Privacy Policy Support

1. Overview

Calorie Counter is a camera-based food analyzer. Point your phone at a meal, and Vision AI returns instant calorie and nutrition estimates. We do not store your food photos on our servers.

2. Data We Collect

Local Data

  • Your meal history (calorie/nutrition values you saved)
  • Daily intake summary
  • App preferences

Transient Data (Not Stored)

  • Food photos are sent to our Vision AI inference endpoint for analysis
  • Photos are processed in memory and immediately discarded after returning the result
  • We do not log, store, or retain food images

We Do NOT Collect

  • Photos beyond the analysis request itself
  • Location, contacts, calendar
  • Account or sign-in information (Calorie Counter is anonymous)

3. AI Analysis Pipeline

When you capture a food image, the photo is sent over HTTPS to our backend inference service. The service runs a vision model to identify the food item and estimate calorie and macronutrient content. The image is held in memory only for the duration of the request and is not persisted.

  • Transmission: HTTPS / TLS 1.2+
  • Retention: zero after response
  • Personal identifiers: none attached to the request

4. Camera Permission

Calorie Counter requires camera access to capture food images. The camera is only activated when you tap the capture button. We never access the camera in the background.

5. Advertising

Calorie Counter shows banner and interstitial ads via Google AdMob. AdMob may collect advertising identifiers (GAID / IDFA) per Google’s policy.

6. Analytics

Anonymous event analytics (e.g., app_open, meal_logged, photo_captured) via Firebase Analytics. No personal identifiers are sent.

7. Third-Party Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share user data with third parties. The Vision AI service is our own infrastructure. We do not share food images or analysis results with anyone.

8. Data Deletion

Uninstall the app to remove all local data. There is no cloud-stored personal data because Calorie Counter does not require an account.

9. Medical Disclaimer

Calorie Counter provides estimated values based on visual recognition. Estimates may vary from actual nutritional content. This app is not a medical device and is not intended to diagnose, treat, or prevent any disease. Consult a healthcare professional for medical or dietary advice.

10. Children’s Privacy

Calorie Counter is intended for users 13 years and older. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.

Frequently Asked Questions

The app cannot recognize my food.
Ensure good lighting and that the food fills most of the frame. Try a different angle if recognition fails. Heavily processed or mixed dishes may have lower accuracy than individual whole foods.
How accurate are the calorie estimates?
Vision-based estimates typically fall within ±20% of actual values for common foods. Accuracy depends on portion size visibility, lighting, and food complexity. Use the estimates as a guideline, not absolute truth.
Can I manually adjust the calorie values?
Yes. After analysis, tap the calorie number to edit it manually. The adjusted value is saved to your meal history.
Are my photos kept on any server?
No. Photos are processed in memory and discarded immediately after the analysis returns. We do not store, log, or retain any food images.
Does the app work offline?
Vision AI analysis requires an internet connection because inference runs on our servers. Your meal history is stored locally and viewable offline.
