CatchNote — Privacy Policy & Support

1. Overview

CatchNote is a personal note & bookmark organizer with optional cloud sync. We treat your data as private by default. This policy explains exactly what we collect, how it’s used, and your rights.

2. Data Collection (Free Users)

No account, no email, no phone number required.
All saved content (links, text, PDFs, OCR images, QR scans) stays in local SQLite on your device.
No server stores your saved items in this mode.

3. Pro Cloud Sync (Optional)

Pro subscribers may opt in to cross-device synchronization:

Firebase Anonymous Authentication — no email/phone/name is collected. An anonymous UID is generated on first sync.
Firestore stores your saved items (title, summary, tags, folder name, URL, PDF/OCR text excerpt up to 2000 characters) under your anonymous UID.
Chrome Extension pairing uses a temporary 6-digit code (10-minute TTL) to associate a browser with your anonymous UID.
Project: Firestore data resides in our Firebase project (sleepmon-i0). Only devices paired with the same UID can access it.
Disconnect: Use the Chrome Extension Disconnect button or uninstall the mobile app to terminate the sync. Cloud data deletion on request — see Contact below.

4. AI Classification

When you save a URL, text, PDF, OCR image, or QR scan, content metadata (title, description, URL, text excerpt) is sent to our backend (catchnote-api.vercel.app) which uses Groq API (Llama 4.0) for automatic folder, tag, and summary generation.

No snippet is logged or persisted by our server.
No snippet is linked to your identity.
Personal information (emails, phone numbers) is automatically masked before transmission.
Transmission is over HTTPS.

5. Advertising

Free-tier users (iOS and Android) see banner, native, and interstitial ads served by Google AdMob. AdMob may collect advertising identifiers (GAID / IDFA) per Google’s policy. Pro subscribers see no ads on any platform.

6. Analytics

Anonymous event analytics via Firebase Analytics (e.g., app_first_open, library_opened). No personal identifiers are sent. Firebase Analytics is part of our Firebase project (sleepmon-i0).

7. Subscriptions

Pro subscription ($4.99/month) is processed by Apple App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android). RevenueCat is used as a subscription management layer — receipts are validated server-side. No payment card information is collected by CatchNote.

8. Third-Party Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share user data with third parties. AI classification metadata is processed transiently by Groq and not retained. Subscription receipts are validated via RevenueCat and Apple/Google.

9. Data Deletion

Free users: uninstall the app — all local data is removed.
Pro users: disconnect all paired devices, then email orangeai.shoedog@gmail.com for cloud data deletion. Response within 5 business days.

10. Children’s Privacy

CatchNote is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

11. Changes to This Policy

We will update the Effective Date above when this policy changes. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I sync between my phone and Chrome browser?

Open CatchNote app, go to Settings › Chrome Extension Pairing, and generate a 6-digit code. Install the CatchNote Chrome Extension and enter the code within 10 minutes. Sync requires Pro subscription.

Pro subscription is not activating after payment.

Open the app, go to Settings › Subscription › Restore Purchases. If the issue persists, email us with your Apple/Google receipt and we will manually activate within 24 hours.

Why is AI categorization slow on long PDFs?

We extract up to 2000 characters of text per document to balance speed and accuracy. Very long PDFs may take a few extra seconds. The first sync is slower; subsequent saves are cached.

Can I export my saved items?

Yes. Settings › Export › choose JSON or Markdown. Free and Pro users can export.

How do I delete my cloud data permanently?

Disconnect all paired devices (Chrome Extension Disconnect button), then email orangeai.shoedog@gmail.com with your anonymous UID (Settings › About › copy UID). Data deleted within 5 business days.
